YouTube built detailed replicas of the Oval Office in its offices - take a look inside
Measuring 20 by 30 feet, YouTube's Oval Offices are decorated to look exactly like the original — except that the ceilings are covered in lighting equipment.
Hillary Gurtler, the set designer, took inspiration from a variety of Oval Offices throughout history, dating back as far as the Reagan era. She also combined snippets of Bush's, Clinton's, and Obama’s decor.
Gurtler purchased all of the the set pieces — from the flags to the bust statue of Abraham Lincoln — at local prop houses. The desks were the only items that YouTube rented.
On the other side of the New York set, opposite the executive desk, is a wall of production equipment that allows creators to control their videos' sound and lighting.
Some YouTubers have used the Oval Office sets already, including the Latino media brand mitú, the comedy series Key of Awesome, and the a capella group Backtrack Vocals.
The New York Oval Office replica is located at the YouTube Space in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood.
