Rapid green strides

Apple has plans to go completely carbon neutral by 2030. It said at its Wonderlust event it made rapid strides — with materials, energy and transportation.

Apple Watches are popular and their straps are now completely leather-free, and their Carbon neutral straps will use recycled yarn and other materials designed by Hermes and Nike repurpose materials to give a suede-like feel in rich colours.

Using used metals

The watches will use recycled Aluminum and even Cobalt – along with other recycled metals like tin, copper and tungsten. Its Pro model phones will also use a Titanium enclosure instead of stainless steel.

Air to Ocean

Their products will be shipped by ocean instead of air which will reduce GHG emissions by 78 percent.

Tick, tock green power

To make up for the power consumed by Apple Watches, the tech giant will set up that much green energy capacity — to ensure net zero usage by its consumers.

Bye, bye plastics

It also has plans to eliminate plastic from its packaging by next year, and already uses fibre and a smaller packaging to ensure minimal impact.

Carbon neutral offices

Apple offices are already Carbon neutral and its stores are powered by green energy – and last year they cut water usage by 63 billion gallons.

Mangroves and grasslands

Apple has taken up projects to restore mangroves in Columbia and grasslands in Kenya to ‘remove Carbon from the atmosphere’.
