Bytedance apps, TikTok and Helo, are under the government’s scanner again and have been asked to asked a questionnaire issued to them by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

A statement issued by the apps says that they will fully collaborate with the government. The government, on the other hand, has threatened to take TikTok and Helo off the shelves should they fail to respond.

There is also the danger of the apps being booked under the IT Act and other Indian laws if found to be guilty of any ‘anti-national’ activities.

FaceApp, the artificial intelligence (AI) photo editor that recently went viral for its feature that allows users to see what they would look like when they’re old, is facing glitches in India. The app was reportedly down last night for both iOS and Android users in India.

Since then, the error has resolved itself but the company is yet to issue a statement to address the issue.

Twitter has a new feature called ‘hide replies’ that lets users filter the comments on their tweets. The social networking giant has stated that the measure is aimed at giving users more control over their conversations.

And, while that may be true, it also gives users the opportunity to hide any replies that they see fit — even if they’re only mildly rude or asking for a fact check.

Currently there are 680,000 digitally skilled professionals in India but 2023, that demand will rise to 2.7 million. That isn’t just restricted to the IT sector but the whole of the Indian economy.

Not only will the demand rise but over half of the workforce will need to reskill itself over the next four years in order to keep up with the growing demand for digital skills.
