This hidden mansion in the Netherlands blends seamlessly into the scenery
The Farmhouse is located in the outskirts of Diepenheim, the Netherlands.
The secluded, 2,700-square-foot mansion appears to blend right into the surrounding vegetation. The house is allowed a maximum height of 13 feet from the ground level.
Inspired by the forest nearby, Maas Architects used native oak for the facade. The vision behind the home was to integrate it into the landscape, Vijftigschild says. From the front, there's a view of the De Zandvang River.
When completed, the two-story home will have seven rooms, he says.
The middle of the home comes to a peak to let in more natural light.
The steps on the side will lead out to a swimming pool (which isn't pictured in the renderings).
A sloped, grass-covered roof will help the mansion tuck right into Diepenheim's terrain.
Here is a photo of the home so far — though it's still under construction, the building stays true to the renderings.
Since the structure looks almost like part of the scenery, the Farmhouse adheres both to the architects' vision and the town's zoning.
