Vivo has just launched its V40 series in India and if you are looking for a new mid-range phone, this might be of interest to you. The series consists of the Vivo V40 and the Vivo V40 Pro smartphones. Speculations and rumours about the two phones had been doing rounds for quite some time and now that the phones have officially been launched, the wait for tech enthusiasts comes to an end.

Talking about the launch, Geetaj Channana, Head Corporate Strategy, Vivo India said, “We are proud to unveil the all-new vivo V40 series in India, marking a significant milestone in our V series journey. This launch underscores our commitment to innovation, delivering smartphones that cater to the dynamic market needs. With ZEISS co-engineered imaging system, sleek design, and robust durability, we are confident that the V40 series will be a valuable addition to our product lineup and resonate well with our customers”.

Along with the V40 series smartphones, Vivo also introduced its latest Vivo TWS 3e with ANC. These earbuds promise a long lasting battery life and come with an in-ear design. The earbuds also support AI call noise reduction.

Vivo V40 series price and availability in India

Vivo V40’s price starts from Rs 34,999 in India while the V40 Pro's price begins from 49,999.

The Vivo V40 will come in three variants - 8GB RAM+ 128GB storage, 8GB RAM+ 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM + 512 GB storage. The price of the 128GB storage variant is Rs 34,999. The 256GB variant costs Rs 36,999 and the higher-end 512 GB variant has a price tag of Rs 41,999.

Coming to the Vivo V40 Pro, the 8GB+256GB variant costs Rs 49,999 while the 12GB+512GB variant has a price tag of Rs 55,999.

The Vivo V40 Pro comes in two colours: Titanium Grey and Ganges Blue. Meanwhile, the Vivo V40 offers an additional colour option with a vibrant Lotus Purple finish, giving consumers three choices.

In addition to this, the V40 will be available in India from August 19 while the V40 Pro will be available from August 13.

Vivo V40 series: Top specifications


The Vivo V40 and Vivo V40 Pro boast a sleek new design with a distinct camera bump and a thickness of just 7.58mm. The phones, thus, promise a great in-hand feel.

Both phones come with a curved glass front and a plastic frame, enhancing their durability and aesthetic appeal. The phones come with a 6.78-inch 1.5K 120Hz Curved AMOLED display, promising vibrant visuals and smooth performance.

Under the hood, the Vivo V40 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, while the Vivo V40 Pro uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chip. Both phones are equipped with stereo speakers and an Aura Light flash.

Talking about the camera, the Vivo V40 Pro features four 50-megapixel sensors, including a 50-megapixel IMX921 main camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 50-megapixel IMX816 telephoto lens, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 50-megapixel front camera designed for selfies with a 92-degree field of view.

The telephoto lens offers a 2X optical and up to 50X digital zoom. Co-engineered with ZEISS, the camera setup provides five portrait modes with focal lengths ranging from 24mm to 100mm, ensuring professional-quality photos.

The Vivo V40, on the other hand, comes with a dual 50-megapixel camera setup in the rear and a 50-megapixel front camera. For the first time, both standard and Pro models of the series are featuring cameras co-engineered with Zeiss.

In terms of battery, both Vivo V40 and the Vivo V40 Pro come with a 5,500mAh battery, promising extended usage on a single charge. Both models support 80W fast charging, providing quick power-ups.

Notably, this series is also the first in Vivo's V-series to offer IP68 water and dust resistance.
