Twitter is going the TikTok way with a new full-screen video feature

• Twitter is adding a scrolling feed of videos and a video section to the Explore tab.
• iOS users will be the first to get access to these features.
• Currently, Explore tab feature is available in selected countries.

Twitter is all set to introduce a short video segment like TikTok and Reels.

In a blog post, Twitter announced that it’s updating its video player and will also add a new Explore tab, showing you some of the most popular videos shared on Twitter. According to the company, these new features will give a new viewing experience and suggest engaging videos to its users.

Twitter says it will start to roll out ‘immersive media viewer’ features in the iOS Twitter app over the next few days. The ‘Explore tab’ is currently available in the selected countries for both iOS and Android users.

With this new feature, videos can be expanded to full screen with a single click, allowing you to access the vertical video experience. To access it, click on a video in the Twitter app, once the video is launched in full screen, just scroll up to start browsing more video content.

If you want to exit the viewer and return to the original Tweet, simply click the back arrow in the top left corner.

A new Explore tab is on the way

Along with the new video player, users can now easily find more videos alongside Trends and Tweets. Open the Explore tab to discover some of the most popular videos shared on Twitter.

This feature is also available to people in selected countries on iOS and Android apps.

In addition to these changes, Twitter has also been experimenting with some other new features, such as a small number of users now having access to the number of views on regular tweets.

This is a big change on Twitter, until this point, videos have been treated as part of tweets. Now, with ‘Immersive media viewer,’ videos will give all new experiences. Also, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Twitter gets a dedicated video tab in the near future.
