Less than a month after Facebook added the ‘Care’ emoji to its platform, social media giant Twitter has introduced a new ‘Gratitude’ emoji to highlight the tweets that include positive terms.

Twitter

As per the company, there have been over 250 million tweets expressing their gratitude and thanks worldwide, which is a 26% increase from February. Most of these tweets are directed at ‘corona warriors’ who have been risking their life while doing their jobs amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"Who do we see people expressing that gratitude for? The most common word is ‘everyone'. Everyone who is an essential worker. Everyone who has helped. Everyone in healthcare. Everyone who has reached out. Everyone” the company said in a tweet.

"To give you another way to show your gratitude, we've created an emoji that will appear when you use #thankful or other hashtags for #gratitude (in various languages)," it added.

Twitter has also said that the use of ‘pray’ and ‘clap’ emoji has also increased by 50% and 10% respectively from February.
