Top streamer Amouranth warns women not to start an OnlyFans: 'It's not good for you'
- Top streamer Amouranth said on a recent livestream she did not recommend women start an OnlyFans.
- She said it's only worth it if they are already an "established creator."
Amouranth, one of the top streamers in the world, said she did not recommend women start doing OnlyFans in a recent stream.
She said she earns significant amounts of money on the platform, but that it's only worth it for those with a following already.
When OnlyFans launched, it was heralded as a way for sex workers to have more control over their earnings, and the content they made. But opinion has shifted somewhat in recent months, with some creators saying they regret starting one up at all.
One former OnlyFans creator told Business Insider in an interview that she was left traumatized after starting her page at age 18.
Amouranth, whose real name is Kaitlyn Siragusa, made the comment in a recent livestream on Kick.
She was reacting to a video posted last week by the gaming and internet culture YouTuber Optimus, titled "Amouranth Simps Give Her $57 MILLION Through OnlyFans..."
In the video, Optimus congratulated Siragusa on how much money she made.
"You have tricked all these sad men, all these guys who don't realize what free porn is into making you a very, very, very rich woman," he said.
In response, Siragusa said: "You don't even know."
"You don't even know the trick part. You don't even know. There's multiple of them," she said.
Optimus said it was "tempting" to start an OnlyFans page.
"If this is what the money's looking like, shit," he said.
He also pointed out Siragusa was an extreme success story, and that many people on OnlyFans will struggle to get anywhere close to her returns.
Earlier this month, Siragusa posted a screenshot on X of her OnlyFans dashboard, showing she was in the "top 0.01% of all creators."
The screenshot also showed her earnings, since January 2020, which totaled over $57 million.
Last year, Siragusa said she could make $15,000 just by sleeping on her streams.
Optimus said in his video that women had seen Siragusa make this amount of cash and so believed it was a "cheat code" to getting rich.
"Next thing you know, their mom, their dad, everyone knows, they're getting fired from their jobs over it," he said.
"That's what I'm saying," Siragusa said. "I would never recommend girls to start an OnlyFans. Like do not, it's not good for you, it only works if you're already an established creator."
Siragusa currently has over 6 million followers on Twitch. She is known as a gamer, but has also found fame with her hot-tub streams, ASMR content, and making an AI version of herself to "date" fans.
She's also made headlines with her business ventures, such as selling her bath water and "fart jars" for $1,000 each.
Since she joined Twitch in 2016 she has been banned multiple times.
In June last year, she shared that she had been diagnosed with late-stage ovarian failure.
