This is what everyone was Googling this year, from Travis Kelce and 'The Last of Us' to 'Barbenheimer'
- Google Trends revealed some of the most searched terms in 2023.
- Travis Kelce, "The Last Of Us," "Barbenheimer," and "Wednesday" were in the top of the sports and entertainment categories.
So what was everyone Googling this year?
Now we know, thanks to a new breakdown from Google Trends.
Google's lists are divided into different categories including news, sports, and entertainment. Google included the most searched terms worldwide and in different countries.
People loved HBO's post-apocalyptic "The Last of Us," which was adapted from the popular video game franchise. The series also sparked an infatuation with its starring actor Pedro Pascal — he was the fifth most searched actor this year.
"Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" were the first and second most searched movies this year. Both movies came out the same late-July weekend, known as "Barbenheimer" weekend. Many people joked about the stark differences between the two films and saw them back to back on the same day.
2023 seemed to be the year of surprising combinations, as one of the most searched people in 2023 was Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Kelce has been dating Taylor Swift since July.
Surprisingly, Swift didn't appear on any of Google's global trending search lists. Kelce, however, was the fifth most searched person and the third most searched athlete.
Here's the full breakdown of the most-searched terms in each category.
