There's an easy way to get 'Fortnite' back on your iPhone if you've deleted it — here's how

  • Apple removed "Fortnite" from the App Store, but there's a way to re-install it on your iPhone if you've already downloaded it in the past.
  • There's a section in the App Store that allows you to view apps you've previously downloaded and re-install them without having to find them in the App Store.
  • Apple and Google both removed "Fortnite" after its creator Epic launched a new way to purchase in-game currency directly rather than through the tech companies' in-app purchasing systems.

Apple may have removed "Fortnite" from the App Store, but there's a quick way to re-install it on your iPhone if you've previously downloaded it.

In the App Store, you can access a list of the apps you've previously downloaded under the Apple ID tied to your iPhone. That means it's possible to find and install an app even if it's not in the App Store as long as you've previously downloaded it.

Apple and Google removed "Fortnite" from their respective app stores after the game's creator Epic introduced a way to purchase in-game currency through the company directly rather than via Apple's and Google's payment options. Doing so allows Epic to bypass the up to 30% cut Apple and Google take from app store transactions, violating the guidelines of both app stores.

Epic has filed lawsuits against both companies, and Apple has threatened to terminate Epic's developer account.

It's another wrinkle in the ongoing controversy about Apple's App Store policies, which has drawn scrutiny from lawmakers over concerns that Apple's position as the gatekeeper to the App Store and a competitor in it hampers competition.

But if you've installed it in the past and deleted it,here's how to get it back on your iPhone.
