PS5 Pro could make lesser noise, expected to have 2TB storage: All we know
  • Sony is reportedly gearing up to launch the PS5 Pro
  • The console is expected to come with 2 TB storage
  • It might also be relatively quieter

The PS5 is a popular choice for many gamers out there and has reportedly sold over 59 million units since its launch in 2020. And now, gamers across the world are eagerly waiting for its more powerful successor, the PS5 Pro. In the last few days, rumours about the PS5 Pro have been surfacing in full swing, adding to the excitement of millions of gamers out there. As per recent reports, the PS5 Pro might come with 2 TB of storage and could also be a quieter machine.

PS5 Pro new rumours

An episode of the Broken Silicon podcast by popular YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead revealed that a PS5 Pro devkit has already been seen by insiders. This devkit reportedly features 2TB of storage, which aligns with similar moves by Microsoft, who is also preparing to launch a 2TB version of the Xbox Series X. While it's not guaranteed that this storage capacity will make it to the final retail version, it’s a promising indication of what Sony might be planning.

Another standout feature of the PS5 Pro devkit is its cooling and power management. As per the podcast, the PS5 Pro will use the same two-prong power connector as the original PS5, suggesting that the new console won't require significantly more power. In the podcast, Moore's Law is Dead also speculated that the upcoming console could be "a very quiet and cool running machine."

The current PS5 is known for its large fan, which can get quite noisy, so any improvements in this area would likely be welcomed by users. If these rumors hold true, the PS5 Pro could offer gamers not just more storage but also a better overall gaming experience with less noise and improved cooling.

Adding to the speculation, leaker @billbil_kun also hinted on Twitter that exciting news about a new version of hardware is on the way, which many believe could be related to the PS5 Pro. Earlier, gaming industry insider Jeff Grubb mentioned that Sony might announce the PS5 Pro during a potential State of Play event, rumoured to be held by the end of September 2024.

PS5 Pro rumours during Gamescom 2024

Earlier, developers at the recent Gamescom 2024 event in Cologne were reportedly dropping hints about the console that suggested that the PS5 Pro launch could be near.

The first clues surfaced during a live stream by the Italian website Multiplayer, where a developer revealed that their game had been delayed due to the upcoming launch of the PS5 Pro. This revelation quickly caught the attention of industry insiders, who began piecing together information that points towards an imminent release.

A reporter from WCCFtech also supported this story, adding that they had also spoken with developers who had received the specifications for the PS5 Pro. These developers expressed confidence that the new hardware would significantly improve the performance of games built using Unreal Engine 5, a powerful game engine that has become increasingly popular among developers.
