Project Tailwind: Here’s how Google's AI-powered note-taking tool works

During the recent I/O 2023 event, Google introduced a project called "Project Tailwind," which the technology giant described as an "AI-first notebook." The company has now announced that early access to this project will be available soon, along with a new name for the service.

Project Tailwind serves as a demonstration of the PaLM API, which is designed to assist individuals in synthesising information from various sources of their choosing. For instance, students can incorporate their class notes, assignments, essays, and readings from Google Drive into Tailwind, thereby creating a personalised and private AI model with expertise in the provided information.

Using a user-friendly interface, Tailwind allows users to perform various tasks with the data, such as generating study guides, summarising content or even creating quizzes. The primary objective is to facilitate accelerated learning. Since the beginning of May, interested users have had the option to join the waitlist for Project Tailwind through Google Labs. An update on the project's landing page indicates that the team will soon grant early access to those on the waitlist, with email notifications likely to be sent out to notify users of this development.
