The 2023 edition of Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference kicked off on Monday where the company introduced iOS 17, the latest version of the company's mobile operating system.

"Check In" is a new safety feature that allows family or friends to see that their loved one safely arrived at a destination according to plan. Users can activate Check In when they begin their travels, such as an early morning run or a walk home from a party or friend's house. After the iPhone user arrives at their destination, a notification is sent designating a safe arrival.

The feature gives users the ability to amend their arrival time, offering the option to add time to one's commute, when it recognizes that they have not made progress towards their destination.

Users can amend their commute times, in the event that they are delayed or sidetrackedApple

In the event that the commuter does not respond to the other person on the receiving end of "Check In," a number of details will "automatically share useful information," like the route that was used, battery percentage, and cellular service status.

These details would allow parents to gain a better understanding of where their kids could potentially be in the commute, and whether or not they have enough battery to receive a call, or whether they safely arrived somewhere and simply forgot to text as promised.

Check In makes it easier, automatic and realtime for iPhone users to alert others if something went wrong while traveling alone. Parents should especially like it.
