President Joe Biden is among the 1.9 million users waiting to try out Jack Dorsey's latest social media venture, Bluesky, but there's no sign the head of state will get to use the fledgling site anytime soon.
Bluesky's official account posted on Friday afternoon that, because it is currently undergoing beta testing, its "current policy is that we cannot accommodate heads of state to join us in our beta yet," Fortune reported — meaning Biden and his political equals are out of luck for now.
The post said the company appreciates "everyone's enthusiasm in sending invitations" but asked that users warn the development team before inviting prominent figures, which could overload their system.
Among the latest to rival Twitter, Bluesky was started by the bird app's co-founder and former CEO and currently has just over 60,000 users, Insider previously reported — including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the infamous Twitter comedy account Dril.
Bluesky began beta testing and launched its waitlist, now nearly 2 million strong, just days after Elon Musk announced he had completed the purchase of Twitter for $44 billion. It remains unclear when the completed site may be available and the waitlist removed.
Dorsey and representatives for Bluesky did not immediately respond to Insider's requests for comment.
