Former First Lady Michelle Obama has a new podcast that debuts on July 29: "The Michelle Obama Podcast."
The new interview show is produced by Higher Ground, the production company founded by former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama after leaving the White House in 2016.
On the podcast, the former First Lady will interview celebrities including Craig Robinson, Valerie Jarett, and Conan O'Brien about "the relationships in our lives that make us who we are."
"My hope is that this series can be a place to explore meaningful topics together and sort through so many of the questions we're all trying to answer in our own lives," she said in the announcement. "Perhaps most of all, I hope this podcast will help listeners open up new conversations — and hard conversations — with the people who matter most to them. That's how we can build more understanding and empathy for one another."
The new podcast is part of a broader push at Spotify into locking down exclusive rights to podcasts, which includes the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, The Ringer podcast network, and Gimlet Media.
"At Spotify we seek to connect listeners with the world's most authentic and compelling voices," said Dawn Ostroff, chief content and advertising business officer at Spotify, in a statement. "We believe that audiences across the globe will be inspired by these most candid, most human, and most personal conversations between First Lady Michelle Obama and her guests."
When "The Michelle Obama Podcast" goes live on July 29, it will be available for free and paid Spotify users through the podcast section of the Spotify app. A small teaser is available now.
