Mark Zuckerberg says people should assume Elon Musk's comments about their cage fight 'has not been agreed on'
  • Mark Zuckerberg suggested that people should take Elon Musk's comments with a pinch of salt.
  • He said on Threads on Friday that people should "assume anything he says has not been agreed on."

Here we go again.

Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk have renewed their intense rivalry as both billionaires continue to exchange jabs.

The social network competitors went back-and-forth once more as they made opposing statements on their own platforms about the logistics of their highly-anticipated cage fight.

The Meta chief seemed to warn people in a Thread post Friday to take Musk's comments with a pinch of salt after he made fresh claims about the details surrounding the fight.

Zuckerberg suggested that people don't give weight to any claims made by Musk and said he'll make an official announcement himself if his rival "ever agrees" on a fixed date to go head-to-head.

"Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on," Zuckerberg wrote.

He also said he's "been ready" to fight with the X owner since he invited him to battle out their differences.

"Not holding my breath for Elon, but I'll share details on my next fight when I'm ready," he added. "When I compete, I want to do it in a way that puts a spotlight on the elite athletes at the top of the game. You do that by working with professional orgs like the UFC or ONE to pull this off well and create a great card."

Zuckerberg's post came hours after Musk claimed the fight would be managed by the billionaires' foundations Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and the Musk Foundation and not the UFC. He also suggested it would be live-streamed on Meta and X and that the Italian prime minister and the Minister of Culture agreed on an "epic location."

Shortly after Musk made the bold claims on X, Italy's Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano said in a statement that the fight "will not be held in Rome." He added that he had a "friendly conversation" with Musk and that they're "thinking about" how to organize the event, but did not say if they had agreed on a location or date for the fight.

Without public confirmation from Zuckerberg, Musk brazenly declared last weekend that their brawl will be streamed on X, formerly known as Twitter, and that all proceeds made from it will go to a veteran's charity.

Last month the pair feuded on the rival social media platforms and mocked each other. Zuckerberg mimicked the way Musk tweets in posts on Threads by replying to posts with the word "concerning", as Musk has done on X at least 26 times before.

Musk hit back by proposing a "literal dick measuring contest" and called the Meta founder a "cuck".

Meta and X didn't immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, made outside of normal working hours.
