Luxury brand Fossil launches Gen 5 smartwatch in India with a price tag of ₹22,995

Fossil has today launched its latest Gen 5 smartwatch in India. Running on Wear OS, the smartwatch cuts across the various watch needs for those looking for fashion accessories or a clean and elegant professional add-on, and those who love technology.

Google’s Wear OS platform has been in the lurch for a while now, in part due to a dearth of good smartwatches, and in part due to shortcomings of Google and Qualcomm in the hardware and software departments. The Fossil Gen 5, though, is likely to be the best that the platform has to offer at the moment.

Fossil Gen 5 features

The Fossil Gen 5 features a 1.3-inch touchscreen and runs on Google’s latest Wear OS update. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform, which is paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

The Fossil Gen 5 sports a new design with six colour options, including black, smoke and rose gold. It comes in a 44mm case and a wide range of strap options, including stainless steel, silicone and leather. Users can further customize the look using watch faces.

Other features of the Fossil Gen 5 include notifications support, Google Assistant support, the ability to answer/reject calls and more. Its fitness features include heart rate tracking via the Cardiogram app, 3ATM rating which allows you to use it while while swimming, and a GPS that lets you track your outdoor activities like walking, jogging and more.

The Fossil Gen 5 is rated to last more than 24 hours on a single charge. There are four different battery modes as well, so you can choose to extend the battery life or make full use of the features that Gen 5 offers, depending on your needs.
