Twitter is now one of the most used and prominent social media platforms worldwide, with 329 million users as of 2022. Elon Musk, the new CEO of Twitter, has been proposing changes to the micro-blogging platform since he took over.

Since the takeover of Elon Musk, it has become necessary for users to know about upcoming features that the company is planning to bring in 2023.

On November 1, Elon Musk announced that Twitter would charge users for the blue tick. Earlier, the blue checkmark was provided free of cost but only to accounts considered ‘active, notable, and authentic accounts of public interest’, independently verified by Twitter.

On September 1, Twitter announced that it had started testing the ‘edit button.’ This feature will allow users to alter the tweets within 30 minutes after they are published. Initially, the Edit button feature will be available to users of Twitter Blue in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Twitter Blue is a premium monthly subscription service that started in 2021 but is yet to be launched outside Canada, the US, Australia, and New Zealand. With Twitter Blue, users get premium features such as new themes, a bookmark option, undo button, and more.

In a blog post, Twitter announced that they would begin adding a new video carousel from which users can watch popular videos, including movie teasers. To discover videos, a user has to swipe up, and videos will open in the full-screen immersive video player.

On November 6, Elon Musk tweeted, ‘ Twitter will soon add the ability to attach long-form text to tweets, ending (the) absurdity of notepad screenshots.’ This means Twitter will soon increase the character limit to 4000 - a fact Musk confirmed when responding to a Twitter user.

Elon Musk might turn Twitter into a bank, “enabling people on Twitter to send money anywhere in the world instantly and in real-time.” Users might also get a debit card attached to their Twitter balance for making payments while shopping.
