He founded rocket and aerospace company Blue Origin in 2000, for instance. And in 2013, he acquired The Washington Post. This year, he also sold some of his Amazon shares to fund <a target="_blank" class href="https://www.businessinsider.com/jeff-bezos-amazon-stock-day-1-academies-shares-investing-markets-2024-6">Day 1 Academies</a>, a chain of nonprofit preschools that he founded.</p><p>But Bezos has also spent hundreds of millions on planes, a yacht, houses, and other property.
