Jack Dorsey appears to have snubbed Mark Zuckerberg's attempt to follow him on Threads.

The Twitter cofounder posted a screenshot of the Meta CEO's follow request on Threads, along with the words: "Too soon b."

Dorsey's Threads account, which is linked to his Instagram, did not appear to have any followers at the time of publication. The account is also set to private and doesn't feature a profile picture.

As Zuckerberg follows Dorsey's Instagram account, the request could have been part of an opt-in feature that links a user's Instagram followers to Threads and sends out automatic requests.

Representatives for Zuckerberg's Meta did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, made outside normal working hours.

Dorsey has publically taken issue with Threads, criticizing the app's privacy policy and bemoaning its lack of originality and similarities to the app he created in 2006.

Aspects of Twitter have been emulated by several other apps since Elon Musk purchased the platform last year. Bluesky, a popular decentralized Twitter alternative, is backed by Dorsey himself.

Earlier this month, Bluesky had to temporarily pause new sign-ups when interest in the platform surged after an unpopular change at Twitter.

Musk's platform has suffered a series of controversies over the last year. Some of the billionaire's changes have been so unpopular that users have felt compelled to seek out other options.

Meta's Threads has proved to be a popular alternative, surpassing 100 million sign ups five days after it launched. Although the app is still in its early stages it has been initially well-received by users and creators.

Threads owes a lot of its success to its connection with Instagram, which allows the app access to an established user base of more than 2 billion.
