Facebook and Instagram appear to be back up and running for many users.

The platforms, both owned by Meta, seemed to suffer an outage Tuesday morning, with users reporting that they'd been logged out of their accounts and were having difficulty signing back into them.

A page run by Meta that keeps tabs on the status of the company's platforms and tools, including outages, reported "major disruptions" to Facebook logins as of 10:17 a.m. ET.

The website Downdetector also showed a spike on Tuesday morning in user-reported outages for Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.

Andy Stone, the communications director at Meta, initially posted on X: "We're aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now."

Shortly after noon Tuesday, he said the matter had been resolved.

"Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services," Stone said on X. "We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience."

Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
