Facebook and Instagram have been hit with significant outages on Thanksgiving, leaving some users are unable to access or use the apps on a major holiday.
Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, tweeted on Thursday: "We're aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing Facebook's family of apps, including Instagram.
"We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. #InstagramDown"
Almost 4,000 users reported problems with Instagram Thursday morning, according to outage-tracking website Down Detector.
Almost 600 Faceook users also reported problems.
Facebook's separate Messenger app is also having trouble.
WhatsApp, Facebook's other major product, does not seem to have been affected.
People had been posting on other social media sites, like Twitter, with the hashtag before Instagram confirmed the problems.
Some reported being unable to access the apps, while those who are already logged in were unable to refresh pages or perform any actions like liking or saving posts.
Facebook and Instagram have been experiencing a dramatic increased in service outages over the last year, according to data shared with Business Insider by Down Detector.
In the first half of this year, Instagram's downtime almost doubled compared with the same time period in the beginning of 2018.
