HP EliteBook Ultra G1q pros and cons

Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Performance
Cons
  • Lack of ports

HP EliteBook Ultra G1q design

The HP EliteBook Ultra G1q features a minimalistic design, ideal for professionals who wish to have a laptop with a simple look. True to its price tag, the HP EliteBook G1q looks and feels premium.

The laptop features a sleek and lightweight design, measuring 14.4mm thick and weighing and 1.35 kg. This makes it easy to carry it around with you, due to its compact form factor. I got the Atmospheric Blue colour variant, which is a shade of dark blue.

At the back, the device comes with a matte finish and features the company’s logo. The laptop keeps fingerprints and dust away and is easy to clean, making it look flawless.

The laptop features a metal body, featuring 50% recycled aluminium. The hinge of the laptop is also well-built and feels very sturdy. Another good thing about the device is you can easily open the lid of the laptop with one hand.

Despite its sleek and lightweight design, the laptop is very durable. It comes with MIL-STD 810H rating, meaning it can handle extreme stress. The laptop does not shake or wobble during use and is very stable.

There are ample vents at the bottom of the device to dissipate the heat.

The EliteBook Ultra G1q comes with a USB Type-A port and an audio port on the right side.

The laptop comes with two USB Type-C ports on the left side.

Coming to the keyboard, the device comes with a chiclet keyboard that offers decent travel time and is good for typing. It comes with a backlit keyboard that allows you to easily use the device even when it is dark. The keycaps come with 50% recycled plastic.

The touchpad on the laptop is large and is responsive and easy to use. It comes with a dedicated CoPilot button.

HP EliteBook Ultra G1q display

Coming to the display, the laptop comes with a 14-inch 2.2K IPS anti-glare display with a 60Hz refresh rate and 300 nits brightness. The panel has a resolution of 2240 x 1400 pixels.

The laptop comes with minimal bezels and offers good colours. The laptop is good for viewing content and working. Content on the laptop, whether for work or for entertainment looks crisp.

The brightness, however, is slightly on the lower side. While it looks excellent indoors, it does struggle a bit when you take it outdoors in direct sunlight. If you are someone who doesn’t regularly use your laptop outdoors, this is a non-issue.

HP EliteBook Ultra G1q performance

Coming to performance, the laptop is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite Platform processor. The laptop is available in a single variant with 16GB LPDDR5x 8400 MHz RAM and a 512TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD.

The laptop is able to handle multi-tasking with ease, without any issues. There was no stuttering or lag, despite many applications and tabs open at once.

The laptop’s cooling system also works well and I did not notice any abnormal heating.

The HP EliteBook G1q comes with the Windows CoPilot+, alongside HP’s AI Companion app. The app can be used to streamline daily tasks, helping boost productivity.

The app offers AI-powered features such as auto-framing and panning, keeping you in centre during calls. It also offers various enhancement options using AI, including the ability to reduce echoes.

The laptop is equipped with a 59 Whr battery and offers a decent battery life, allowing you to get around 8 hours of usage. It supports 65W charging, allowing you to quickly charge the device.

Verdict

The HP EliteBook G1q is a feature-packed device designed for professionals looking for a sleek and powerful laptop. The device ticks all the right boxes, including a good design, powerful hardware and a lightweight form factor.

At the end of the day, price does come into play and the EliteBook G1q is priced on the higher side. If you are looking to get a premium device and don’t mind the price, the EliteBook G1q is a great option.
