The COVID-19 vaccination certificate has become an essential document for travelling between states and countries. Now a new service introduced by the government allows users to access their COVID-19 vaccine certificates on WhatsApp.

The facility is available via the MyGov Corona Helpdesk bot which was introduced last year to help people find nearby vaccination centres and other information regarding the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier, you could only access and download the COVID-19 vaccination certificate on the COWIN portal.

If you are a vaccinated person looking to download the COVID-19 vaccine certificate on WhatsApp, you can follow the simple instructions given below.

Here’s how you can download the COVID-19 vaccination certificate
  1. You will need to first save the number “+91 9013151515” on your phone.
  2. Then go to the WhatsApp application and search for the MyGov Corona Helpdesk.
  3. You can also access the helpdesk on WhatsApp by clicking here.
  4. Open the chatbox and send “COVID certificate” or “Download certificate”.
  5. You will get a six-digit OTP on the registered mobile number, which will have to be entered within 30 seconds.
  6. You will be able to view the names of all users registered to the mobile number on the COWIN portal.
  7. The bot will ask you to select the person whose certificate you wish to download.
  8. You will have to type in and send the number associated with the person’s name.
  9. The bot will then send the certificate of the person selected in pdf format.
  10. The certificate can be downloaded and saved or printed for future references.
  11. You can follow the same steps to download certificates for other users associated with the mobile number.
If you are yet to get yourself registered for vaccination, you can do it on the COWIN portal. You can look for vaccination centres and availability nearby using the MyGov Corona Helpdesk.
