  • You can change your Steam username to change the name other people see when they look at your account, and what they'll search for to find you.
  • This won't change your account name, but it will change the profile name displayed in the Steam application and in games, as well as what your friends see on their Friends List.

Every username has a story behind it. Usernames are the first impression you give in multiplayer games, and they're a great chance to express yourself.

Steam saves all your previous usernames, to help people find you after a name change. If you don't want that, go back to your profile page and click the arrow next to your username. Select "Clear previous aliases."

Your new name will now be displayed on your profile page and in any multiplayer game you play. Note, however, that this won't change your account name - when you log into Steam, you'll still use the same username you always have.
