San Francisco-based artificial intelligence lab OpenAI has unveiled its latest creation, GPT-4. The company is renowned for its viral chatbot ChatGPT. According to their recent blog post, the new version is ‘multimodal,’ meaning it can process image and text inputs and generate text outputs.

Chat GPT-4's primary function is generating text, but it excels at it to a remarkable degree. OpenAI says this latest version can process up to 25,000 words- about eight times as many as GPT-3. Also, it can process images and handle much more nuanced instructions than GPT-3.5.

GPT-3 was first released in 2020 and boasted an impressive 175 billion parameters, making it the largest neural network ever produced. It was subsequently fine-tuned with the GPT-3.5 series in 2022.

GPT-4 can process images, meaning users can upload photos and get recommendations from GPT-4 based on the image. For example, if you upload a photo of flour, butter, eggs, and milk, GPT-4 can suggest some recipes that can be made with those ingredients. However, this feature is not currently available to the public.

Code video games

Users on Twitter have shown that GPT-4 can code complete video games in just a few minutes, even without prior knowledge of popular programming languages like JavaScript. An example is a user who recreated the classic game Snake using GPT-4's capabilities.
