Here’s a look inside the first Apple Store in India at BKC, Mumbai

Apple has provided a sneak peek of its first-ever retail store in India, named Apple BKC, which is situated in the lively Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. The store will offer a vibrant environment for customers to gather, discover Apple products and services, receive exceptional assistance, and benefit from the free ‘Today at Apple’ session.

On its opening day on Tuesday, April 18, Apple BKC will host a unique Today at Apple series called ‘Mumbai Rising,’ which will continue throughout the summer. The free workshops will unite visitors, local artists, and innovators, providing interactive experiences with Apple products and services showcasing and honoring Mumbai's community and culture.

As part of the ‘Mumbai Rising’ series, Apple BKC's ‘Today at Apple’ program will feature various hands-on sessions. These include the Music Lab's ‘Deep Listening in Urban Spaces’ with Sandunes, the Photo Lab's ‘Portraits of Resistance’ with Prarthna Singh, the Design Lab's ‘Every Poster Tells a Story’ with Boomranng Studio, and the Art Lab's ‘Drawing Homage to Mumbai’ with Kohla. These free workshops will give visitors unique opportunities to learn and explore the city's vibrant culture through various creative mediums.

Apple BKC has been specifically crafted to stand out as one of the world's most energy-efficient Apple Store destinations, powered by a dedicated solar array and operating without any reliance on fossil fuels. The store has achieved carbon neutrality in its day-to-day operations, utilizing 100% renewable energy sources.

Apple BKC boasts a remarkable architectural design that features a triangular handcrafted timber ceiling, extending beyond the glass facade and underneath the exterior canopy, paying tribute to the store's unique geometry. The ceiling comprises 1,000 tiles, with each tile made from 408 pieces of timber forming 31 modules, totaling over 450,000 individual timber elements, all assembled in Delhi. Upon entering the store, visitors are welcomed by two stone walls from Rajasthan and a 14-meter-long stainless steel staircase that links the ground level to the cantilevered mezzanine.

The Apple BKC boasts a diverse team of more than 100 members who collectively speak over 20 languages. They are dedicated to providing excellent customer service to visitors from all over the world, offering expert advice on Apple products and the Apple Trade In program to meet the specific needs of each customer. With over 25 years of operations in India, Apple remains committed to supporting the local community through various initiatives such as the Akanksha Foundation, Barefoot College International, Applied Environmental Research Foundation (AERF), and others. The Apple BKC will officially open on Tuesday, April 18, at 11 a.m. IST in Mumbai.
