With the pervasive influence of technology in our daily lives, our work is becoming increasingly productive and efficient. Artificial intelligence (AI) is introducing innovative ways to simplify and organise tasks. The introduction of chatbots like ChatGPT exemplifies how large language models can be invaluable tools for boosting creativity and enhancing productivity in our fast-paced work environments.

ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, is an exceptionally efficient AI-powered chatbot that not only possesses the ability to provide answers to a wide range of questions but also proves useful in various other tasks. Its launch and subsequent success has inspired numerous companies to develop their own AI-driven technologies. One notable example is Google's chatbot, Bard, which was unveiled in March this year. Google Bard offers a diverse set of features that leverage the tech giant's resourceful AI chatbot.

While ChatGPT is accessible to anyone, Bard has had to contend with complaints about its limited user access. In this article, we tell you how you can effectively use Google Bard to your advantage.

Useful and cool features of Bard

Multiple drafts for email

After Bard composes an email as a response, users will notice the presence of the "View Other Drafts" option located in the top right-hand corner of the screen. On clicking this button, Bard will generate multiple additional drafts for the user. Consequently, when prompted to "Write a thank you email," users will have the advantage of choosing from at least three different draft options.

Voice input

While this functionality has not been seen in ChatGPT, the convenience of voice input is afforded by Bard. Instead of typing, users can simply click on the microphone icon situated on the right-hand side of the text input bar, adjacent to the enter button, and verbally express their requests. For instance, if you wish to compose a thank you email in response to an invitation, you can press the microphone button and say, "Write a thank you email." In a matter of seconds, Bard will swiftly generate the desired email for you.

Google Docs sharing

Undoubtedly, one of the most intriguing features – which is yet to be explored in ChatGPT – is the ability to compose emails or messages in response to Google Bard's output and seamlessly share them via Gmail or Docs. Once users receive the desired response from Google Bard, they can effortlessly write an email or message and directly share it using the integration with Gmail or Docs.

Images as response

Although ChatGPT excels in generating detailed and comprehensive text responses, it currently lacks the ability to provide image-based responses. However, Google Bard exhibits the capability to include images in its text responses. While Google demonstrated this feature during the I/O event, we experienced instances where prompts such as "best places to visit in Kerala" did not yield any image-based responses. It is possible that the feature is gradually being rolled out and may become more widely available in the future.

During the recently concluded Google I/O 2023, Google expanded the availability of Bard to more than 180 countries. Notably, Bard now possesses the capability of providing multimodal responses, incorporating both text and images. Additionally, Google has introduced apps and extensions for Bard, enhancing its functionality and enabling users to explore a wider range of features and possibilities.
