Design

Starting with the design, the Gigabyte GS27Q comes with a minimalistic design and looks like a regular monitor from the front. While this makes it possible to use it professionally as well as for gaming, the design might seem a bit boring to some.

The monitor comes with a lightweight design, weighing just 5.6 kg with the stand, which is decent when you consider that it comes with a 27-inch display. It can be easily moved and carried around when needed, which will come in handy for gamers.

The monitor features an all-plastic back in black colour. It comes with thin bezels on the three sides with a large chin at the bottom that features the company’s name.

The monitor also comes with Gigabyte branding at the back.

The monitor’s stand is not height adjustable, meaning you cannot adjust the height according to your needs. However, it does come with tilt support, which allows you to make slight changes.

The stand comes with a small flat base, that keeps it stable.

For connectivity, the monitor offers two HDMI 2.0 ports, a Displayport 1.4 and a headphone jack.

Display and performance

Coming to the display, the Gigabyte GS27Q monitor features a 27-inch IPS panel with a 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution. It offers a refresh rate of 165 Hz, 300 nits of brightness, HDR ready and a response time of 1ms (MPRT).

The monitor comes with AMD FreeSync Premium technology that ensures that you can have a blur-free gaming experience with minimal stuttering and no tearing.

I played fast-paced games like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Forza Horizon 4 while using the monitor. It is a treat to play games, especially fast-paced first person shooters and racing games on the monitor.

The gameplay on the Gigabyte GS27Q was smooth and there was no motion blur or tearing. The high refresh rate and adaptive sync ensure that you have an excellent gaming experience.

The monitor comes with several pre-sets, allowing you to choose between best modes depending on your use. Additionally, it also offers features such as an on-screen timer, customisable crosshairs and an aim stabiliser to help improve your gaming experience.

The monitor comes with black equalizer technology that also came in handy, especially in games that had darker areas where it was easy for enemies to usually hide, giving me an edge.

Verdict

The Gigabyte GS27Q is a feature-packed gaming monitor that ticks off a lot of the right boxes, including a good display, a high refresh rate and a fast response time. It offers good colour accuracy and delivers good brightness.

The gaming monitor from Gigabyte misses out on things like a speaker and height adjustable stand. Overall, it is a good option if you are looking for a reliable gaming monitor that offers a high refresh rate and resolution, the Gigabyte GS27Q is a good option.
