Facebook launched ‘Facebook Fundraisers ’, a platform through which people can raise funds for charity.- Facebook announced the initiative in India to help people accelerate people’s efforts to help others during the pandemic.
- The social media giant is also organising Social-For-Good Live-a-thon. For the same, celebrities, influencers will come together to encourage people to donate to selected charities.
“Our efforts till date have been focussed towards providing access to accurate information, reducing misinformation, and supporting communities. At a time when the country is in the middle of an unprecedented effort to fight the outbreak of the virus, we are deeply aware of the economic impact of the disruption in normal life. Communities around the country need help. Today, with the launch of Facebook Fundraisers, we are making a particular push towards ensuring everyone can contribute to relief efforts,” said Ajit Mohan, VP and MD of Facebook India.
Since 2015, people around the globe have raised over $3 billion dollars on Facebook to support charitable causes. For the India launch, Facebook has partnered with GiveIndia for the verification of these charities.
But it’s not just that. Facebook is also organising Social-For-Good Live-a-thon. For the same, celebrities, influencers will come together to encourage people to donate to selected charities. It will be a week-long event and will also feature artists who will go live through Facebook.
