Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says every country should have its own AI systems.

The Nvidia founder told the World Governments Summit in Dubai this week that countries needed to work toward building "sovereign AI."

Huang said countries should ensure they own the production of their intelligence and the data produced.

"It codifies your culture, your society's intelligence, your common sense, your history — you own your own data," he told a session moderated by the UAE's AI minister, Omar Al Olama.

Huang also urged leaders not to be "mystified" by AI, touting its potential to usher in a new industrial revolution.

If he led a developing nation he said "the first thing that I would do, of course, is I would codify the language, the data of your culture into your own large language model."

Al Olama said the UAE agreed with Huang's vision, adding that it was moving "aggressively on creating large language models and mobilizing compute."

Nvidia did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider, made outside normal working hours.

Nvidia is the leading provider of GPU chips and has reaped huge financial success from a recent spike in demand.

On Tuesday, the company surpassed Amazon and overtook Alphabet on Wednesday to become America's third most valuable public company.

Nvidia is due to report earnings next week amid high investor expectations. It had a series of better-than-expected results last year amid a surge in demand for its AI chips.
