Elon Musk's sister says she's been overcharged because she shares a surname with the world's richest man.

Tosca Musk, who is a filmmaker, told the Daily Mail that the Musk name was a "blessing and a curse" and that it had once led to her being given an inflated price for a film location.

'The location was going to cost $5,000 a day," she told the news outlet, "but when they heard my name and assumed we were rich, they decided to charge us $25,000."

"Everyone assumes my eldest brother pays for everything, but he does not," she said, adding that it was a "double-edged sword" to say whether or not her brother helped her with her business. The siblings also share another brother, the restaurateur and philanthropist Kimbal Musk.

Tosca Musk told the Daily Mail that her family wasn't "born rich."

Tosca Musk is the CEO and the founder of Passionflix, a streaming service and production company for romantic movies. She has been producing films for more than two decades and has contributed to more than 55 to date, according to her IMDb page.

Representatives for Tosca Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment made outside normal working hours.

Despite the downsides, she told the Daily Mail that her last name was "mostly a blessing" and that she would never be tempted to change it.

Her eldest brother displaced Bernard Arnault as the world's richest person last month and now claims a net worth of $233 billion, according to Bloomberg's Billionaire Index.

Elon Musk, who is CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, claimed the title of the world's wealthiest man in January 2021 and has since traded places with both Arnault and the Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, according to Bloomberg data.
