  • Now Musk is once again wondering if his Asian lookalike could be a real person.

A shirtless boxing video posted by Elon Musk's Chinese doppelgänger, Yilong Ma, has gotten the billionaire curious about his Asian lookalike again.

Musk on Monday responded to a new video of Ma posted to Twitter, the platform now known as X.

In the video, Ma is seen shirtless and wearing a pair of red boxing gloves. He also appeared to be having a mock boxing match with a person wearing a box on his head, with a printout of Mark Zuckerberg's face attached to said box. The original video was uploaded to Ma's TikTok account on July 31.

"X very cool very cool," Ma said after throwing punches at the fake Zuckerberg, referencing the highly anticipated cage fight between the two billionaires.

"Still don't know if real or AI-generated," Musk wrote on Monday morning.

This is not the first time Musk has wondered aloud about whether his Chinese doppelgänger could be a real person and not an AI deepfake.

In December 2021, Musk joked that he could be "partly Chinese" after a Twitter user posted a photo of Yilong Ma to the platform. And in May 2022, Musk said he would be keen to meet Ma.

"I'd like to meet this guy (if he is real). Hard to tell with deepfakes these days," Musk said in his tweet in May 2022.

Ma, who appears to bear a striking resemblance to Musk, first went viral on China's version of TikTok, Douyin in November 2020. His Douyin account was later suspended in May 2022. Ma told Insider at the time that he did not receive an appropriate explanation from Douyin on his suspension.

Ma's videos can also be found on his TikTok account, where he has more than a million followers on the platform and about 22.2 million likes on his videos.

Representatives for X did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider sent outside regular business hours.
