Elon Musk on Monday teased what appeared to be a tool rack for Tesla's highly anticipated Cybertruck.
Musk drove a Cybertruck outfitted with the black rack into a ceremony for Tesla's new lithium refinery in Texas.
The rack was attached to the bed of the electric pickup truck. It had what appeared to be two silver shovels attached to the outside of the rack. The vehicle also appeared to feature bars across the top of the rack that could presumably be used to carry larger items.
Attendees at the event later used similar shovels to break ground on the site of the refinery. Musk has estimated that the new Texas refinery will produce enough lithium, a rare Earth metal, to power about 1 million EVs.
Tesla did not respond to a request for comment from Insider and it has yet to provide any further details on the rack.
It is unclear whether the rack would be sold as an official Tesla product. Some companies have developed Cybertruck accessories, including camping units that can turn the electric pickup truck into an RV.
Musk has said the carmaker plans to release its Cybertruck later this year and confirmed during Tesla's quarterly earnings call last month that he expects to begin deliveries this year. The billionaire has changed the delivery date — which is two years later than he initially predicted — several times since he first announced the truck in 2019.
"It takes time to get the manufacturing line going, and this is really a very radical product," Musk said during the earnings call. "It's not made in the way that other cars are made."
Due to its stainless steel design and its unusual shape, the EV requires many of its parts to be custom-made, including the windshield wiper for its expansive front window. In the video from Monday's event, the truck appears to be sporting a massive windshield wiper. A previous photo appeared to show the wiper leaving much of the windshield dirty, despite its size.
A Cybertruck was also spotted after the Texas event in a field. In a video that was posted on social media, the Cybertruck appears to be stuck in the muddy field with several people and another car gathered around the vehicle.
