Tokyo is oppressively hot in summer, but that hasn't stopped Elon Musk from visiting the city.

Musk on Thursday announced on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, that he'd "just arrived in amazing Japan."

About 12 hours later, he posted an update on what he was up to. And whatever your thoughts on the man, it's clear he knows how to have fun.

Musk posted a clip of what appeared to be part of the sprawling TeamLab Planets Tokyo exhibit in Odaiba.

This particular room, "The Infinite Crystal Universe," is one of the exhibit's most Instagrammable displays. It's beautiful, and it's not hard to see why.

Musk, per his own account, "loves" it.

And it seems Musk and Grimes' son, X, was also in tow, and equally fascinated by the lights.

There's a lot to the TeamLab exhibit other than "The Infinite Crystal Universe." When this writer visited the gallery in November, several other exhibits were also striking. There's a room where one gets to wade through knee-deep, warm water while interacting with digital projections of koi and a floating flower garden filled with blooms that descend from the ceiling.

Speaking of Grimes, the Musk family vacation didn't appear to be just for the TeamLab visit. Musk also livestreamed part of Grimes' Friday gig at the Makuhari Messe, an event hall in Chiba.

All in all, it seems Musk and his family's summer jaunt sure is living up to his characterization of the trip thus far: He posted on X on Friday, calling the vacation: "The Fast & The Fanciful: Tōkyō Drīft 2023."

This trip to Japan is Musk's second trip to Asia this year, and his first trip to Japan in close to a decade, per The Japan Times. In May, he went to China, where he was hailed as "Brother Ma" and treated like royalty.
