Elon Musk is back with another question for Twitter users – this time, he’s asking if Twitter needs an edit button, one of the longest-standing requests of users of the social media platform.Musk has been running a few polls of late, and the latest is him asking about the need for an edit button. Unsurprisingly, after more than 1.5 million votes, nearly 75% have voted “yse”.
Twitter’s new chief executive officer, Parag Agrawal, joined in on the conversation, using one of Musk’s lines from a previous poll.
This comes a day after it was disclosed in regulatory filings that Elon Musk owns a 9.2% stake in Twitter, making him the single largest shareholder of the company. The revelation sent Twitter stock soaring, hitting a high of 28% late yesterday (April 4).

When someone quipped that Musk is influencing Twitter by running polls on hot-button issues, he replied that these things offer a data point.
It is not clear if Musk intends to use the results of these polls to eventually force Twitter’s hands into adding these features on its platform.
Earlier, Musk asked people if they think Twitter adheres to the principles of free speech. The results revealed that over 70% of the 2 million votes said ‘no’.
In a follow up tweet, Musk said “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully.”

Musk has had a controversial presence on Twitter
It’s not the first time that Musk has said something controversial, or polarising, on Twitter. He has been the subject of investigations by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and even reached a deal with the regulator in 2018 to monitor his use of Twitter.
In another poll that Musk ran on Twitter, the Tesla cofounder asked his followers if he should sell a 10% stake in the company.
After 3.5 million votes – with 58% of them saying yes – Musk offloaded a $5 billion stake in Tesla.
