Elon Musk is taking the possibility that he might have to throw down with Mark Zuckerberg in a cage fight pretty seriously.

Canadian wrestler and UFC fighter Georges St-Pierre said in a July 3 tweet that he had a "great training session" with Musk, podcaster Lex Fridman and martial artist John Danaher. St-Pierre posted a photo of what appeared to be the men in workout gear, but did not specify when and where the session took place.

"Really fun! The obvious conclusion is that I need a *lot* more training," Musk tweeted about the session.

Enlisting professional instructors like St-Pierre and Danaher is a huge step up for Musk, who previously said he almost never works out.

Musk's potential bout with Zuckerberg came about through a borderline bizarre sequence of events. It all started when Musk joked on June 20 that he would be "up for a cage match" with the jiu-jitsu-loving Zuckerberg to settle their beef in the ring — despite being warned by a Twitter user that the Meta founder's been looking fit lately.

Then Zuckerberg responded to Musk's challenge on June 21, writing three words on an Instagram Story: "Send Me Location."

Musk has since made several jokes about his own chances in the ring. He wrote on Twitter on June 21 that he has one "great move" called "The Walrus." The move would simply involve Musk flopping onto his opponent and doing nothing else.

Besides training with St-Pierre and Danaher, Musk has also done a separate "impromptu training session" with Fridman, per the podcaster's tweet dated June 27. Fridman's tweet included photographs of Musk practicing takedown moves on a mat.

All this martial arts training on Musk's part will probably come in handy, given that Zuckerberg has won medals for competing in jiu-jitsu matches.

It is unclear when this billionaire cage fight would take place, though Musk has suggested the "Vegas Octagon," one of the UFC's top venues for fights, and Rome's ancient Colosseum.

A representative for Georges St-Pierre did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider sent outside regular business hours. Representatives for Musk at Twitter responded to a request for comment with an automated response that didn't address the questions asked.
