Elon Musk used to follow his younger sister around to clubs and parties when he was a teenager because he had no social life, according to a new book about the tech mogul.

At the time, Musk's family was living in Toronto, and "he spent most of his time reading or working on the computer," Walter Isaacson writes in the biography, "Elon Musk."

But his sister, Tosca, was a "saucy teenager" and "eager to go out," the book says.

When she did, her older brother would declare that he was going with her because he didn't want to be lonely.

"No you're not," Tosca would say, according to the book.

But when Musk insisted on joining her out, Tosca ordered him to "stay ten feet away" from her "at all times," which he did.

Musk "would walk behind her and her friends," Isaacson wrote, "carrying a book to read whenever they went into a club or party."

Isaacson's book contains a slew of other details about the Tesla and SpaceX CEO's early life, including his lack of a social life and difficulty making friends. At one point, the book says, Musk learned how to pick up on social cues by reading because he didn't have friends as a child.

The book also revealed Musk once passed out during a meeting in Russia after taking shots of vodka.

"Elon Musk" hit bookshelves on Tuesday.
