ChatGPT will let you create images for free like Microsoft's CoPilot and Google's Gemini but there is a catch
  • ChatGPT has rolled out AI image generation feature for free users
  • Users can generate up to two images per day
  • Microsoft's CoPilot and Google's Gemini already have image generation capabilities

OpenAI launched ChatGPT back in November 2022 and the AI chatbot quickly became the talk of the tech town. From writing code to composing music and poetry, ChatGPT surprised us all with its abilities back then. However, one thing that wasn’t available until 2023 was image generation.

Last year, ChatGPT did get image generation capabilities but it was restricted only to paid users. On the other hand, AI chatbots like Google’s Gemini and Microsoft’s CoPilot have been offering image generation abilities to users for a while. But now, ChatGPT is offering image generation capabilities to users for free. However, there is a catch.

ChatGPT announces image generation for free users

In a post on X, OpenAI recently announced that ChatGPT will be available for free users as well. However, you will only be able to generate up to two images per day if you are using ChatGPT for free.

OpenAI revealed that the same will be made possible as users can generate images using its text to image model DALL-E 3.

“We’re rolling out the ability for ChatGPT Free users to create up to two images per day with DALL-E 3. Just ask ChatGPT to create an image for a slide deck, personalize a card for a friend, or show you what something looks like,” the company wrote in its post on X.

As mentioned already, last year, ChatGPT got image generation capabilities thanks to its integration with DALL-E 3.

Even though the feature has been announced, it is not yet available for all users. OpenAI might rollout the feature gradually. Keep checking ChatGPT to see if you have access to the feature or not.

Other AI image generation tools

AI image generation tools have been around for quite some time now and are used by people across the world. Microsoft’s Co-Pilot and Google’s Gemini offer image generation capabilities for free. Users simply need to enter text prompts, describing what they want out of an image, and AI takes care of the rest.

Apart from this, AI image generation tools like Midjourney and Stable Diffusion are premium tools that can be quite useful for professionals.
