Portable gaming is something that has piqued the interest of gamers across the globe for years. However, not many companies have experimented with the idea. Even though there have been some options for console gamers, there was no way that PC games could be enjoyed on a handheld device for a long time. But, things changed with devices like Steam Deck, Asus’ ROG Ally, and MSI Claw.

Asus launched its first gaming handheld, the ROG Ally, in India in 2023. In June this year, the next model of the ROG Ally was unveiled in front of the world. And now, this next model, called the ROG Ally X, is available in India.

Asus ROG Ally X launched in India


The Asus ROG Ally was launched in India on August 5. Talking about the launch, Arnold Su, Vice President, Consumer and Gaming PC, System Business Group, Asus India, said, “Following the ROG Ally launch last year, we are excited to unveil the ROG Ally X in India. Building on valuable feedback from the Ally community, the Ally X brings numerous enhancements. While retaining its iconic design, the Ally X features a refined ergonomic design with improved input points for a more responsive and comfortable experience. As pioneers in gaming innovation, ASUS ROG has always been committed to delivering cutting-edge technology and exceptional performance. We are confident that the Ally X will continue to set benchmarks in the gaming industry, enhancing the gaming journey for players across India.”

The device is available at a starting price of Rs 89,990. This is a special price being offered as the device’s MRP, as per Asus’ website, is Rs 1,07,990. Thus, the ROG Ally X is costlier than its predecessor. To recall, the ROG Ally launched in India for Rs 69,990 in July last year.

Talking about the ROG Ally X’s availability, gamers can purchase the device from various platforms, including the Asus ROG Store, Eshop, Flipkart, and Amazon.

Asus ROG Ally X: Top specs and features

The ROG Ally X features a familiar design and weighs 678 grams. There are console-like controllers on either sides of the device and a 7-inch screen in the middle.

The device is powered by the AMD Z1 Extreme CPU processor, complemented by the Radeon 780M iGPU with 12 Compute Units, promising great graphical power and optimization.

The device boasts an upgraded 80Wh battery for extended gaming sessions and comes equipped with a full-sized 1TB 2280 M.2 NVME Gen 4 SSD, expandable up to 4TB. Additionally, it features 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM running at 7500MT/s, promising a smooth and responsive gaming experience.

In terms of display, the device comes with a full HD 1080p display paired with a 120Hz refresh rate and 500 nits brightness. The display also supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) for crisp and smooth visuals.

Enhanced by Dolby Atmos technology, the ROG Ally X promises to offer immersive virtual surround sound. In addition to this, its chassis features larger, more tactile bumper buttons and hall-effect triggers. The device is equipped with WiFi 6E support and a Zero Gravity thermal system.
