Arnold Schwarzenegger got a buzzy new job with no real function at Netflix, and he bulldozed a Mercedes Benz with his own tank to announce it
- Arnold Schwarzenegger, 75, just took on a brand new job as Netflix's Chief Action Officer.
- He also drove his own personal M47 Patton tank in a Netflix promo video announcing the appointment.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has a brand new job — and he announced it by running a massive military tank he owns over a Mercedes Benz parked in front of Netflix's California headquarters.
In a promotional video on Netflix's YouTube channel uploaded on Monday, the former Governor of California said "No one loves action as much as I do," while emerging from the tank.
"That's why I've accepted the big new job as Netflix's Chief Action Officer," he added.
It isn't exactly clear what the 75-year-old's job as Netflix's Chief Action Officer entails, but the superstar said in the video he's working "round the clock" to bring audiences the "biggest action on earth."
The video — which even shows Schwarzenegger slice a burrito in half using a sword — lists off Netflix's upcoming lineup of action-packed movies and shows, including Extraction 2 and The Witcher Season 3.
It also features Fubar — a series starring Schwarzenegger — which will premier on Netflix on May 25.
Reddit users had a field day with Schwarzenegger's new job title as 234 people piled onto a subreddit on the subject.
"So basically this isn't a real position and this is just an advertisement, right?" commented one Reddit user.
"No clue what his responsibilities might entail, but this man definitely knows a thing or two about successful action movies," said another.
What's clear is that the Terminator star loves action so much, he even used his own M47 Patton military tank in the video — which he brought over from Austria — according to Tudum, Netflix's fan site.
Schwarzenegger said he drove the tank himself. "Was it really me driving? Of course, it was. I wasn't going to let someone else have that fun," he told Tudum.
To be clear, Schwarzenegger's LinkedIn profile shows his current title as the president of Oak Productions, a video production company.
Netflix and representatives for Schwarzenegger did not immediately respond to Insider's requests for comment sent outside regular business hours.
Netflix's appointment of the Hollywood legend came a week after the company announced it had acquired 5 million monthly active users for its new ad-supported plan that was launched six months ago.
The streaming giant didn't disclose actual subscriber figures or revenue from the new tier, but investor sentiment was boosted nonetheless, with shares soaring 10% in one day following the news.
Netflix's shares closed 0.6% lower at $363.01 apiece on Monday. The stock is up 23% so far this year.
