Apple is planning a major update for Siri to compete with ChatGPT, Gemini: All we know

Apple is set to revolutionise Siri with advanced AI capabilities, aiming to close the gap with rivals like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini, a Bloomberg report has said. The ambitious upgrade, internally codenamed “LLM Siri,” will make the voice assistant smarter, more conversational, and better equipped to handle complex queries. However, users will have to wait until 2026 for the full rollout, according to the portal.

While Siri has received incremental updates in recent months, including a glowing interface, enhanced understanding of Apple devices, and improved pause detection during speech, it still struggles to compete with the sophisticated AI-driven tools dominating the market. To bridge this gap, Apple is temporarily integrating OpenAI’s ChatGPT into Siri starting this December, signalling the assistant’s current limitations while the company develops its own in-house large language models.

The revamped Siri, expected to debut officially in spring 2026, is expected to feature cutting-edge AI models designed to make it significantly more intuitive and responsive.
