- Apple emailed corporate employees on Wednesday at 7 a.m. surveying them about hybrid work.
- The Apple Employee Survey came after staff were told to start coming into the office 3 days a week.
Apple sent a survey to corporate employees at 7 a.m. on Wednesday asking for their views about hybrid work after threatening to discipline anyone not coming into the office at least three days a week.
A person familiar with the matter told Insider: "Most of the questions focused on what was working well on remote-work days, what was working well on in-office days, and variations of that.
"Anecdotally, I think responses are consistently positive toward remote work and negative toward in-office work" because of "reduced efficiency due to long commutes and frequent distractions."
While the "Apple Employee Survey" primarily focused on hybrid work, it also asked employees about company culture.
Employees have until April 28 to respond to the survey, which should take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete, according to a copy of the email seen by Insider.
Apple didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider, made outside normal working hours.
The iPhone maker's survey comes just weeks after it threatened to start giving staff escalating warnings for not going into the office.
Last summer, Apple required corporate employees to work from the office on three selected days from September 5, including Tuesday, Thursday, and one other regular day selected by team leaders.
A group of employees, called "Apple Together," pushed back against those plans and shared a petition on Twitter, saying that staff had proved they could do "exceptional work" remotely.
In March 2022, CEO Tim Cook sent a memo informing employees that the company would start phasing in its hybrid work plans. Cook has previously described remote work as the "mother of all experiments."
Here's a copy of the memo:
