A former Twitter manager said she was sent a congratulatory anniversary gift from the company days after being laid off.

On Friday, Elaine Filadelfo, a former senior research manager on Twitter's Consumer Insights team, said she had been let go after 10 years working for the company.

"End of an era. This is a brutal way to go after 10 years," she said. "This hit my *entire* team."

On Sunday, she said she received the note, along with a commemorative block from the company celebrating her 10 years at Twitter.

The note read: "Elaine, Happy Twitterversary! Congrats on reaching a huge Tweep milestone. We can't wait to see all that you accomplish this year. #OneTeam — Twitter."

Filadelfo and representatives for Twitter did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment made outside of normal working hours.

On Friday, Twitter laid off approximately 50% of its staff as its new owner, Elon Musk, attempted to reduce operating costs. The communications team was thought to have been slashed from around 80-100 people to two, per Bloomberg reporter Kurt Wagner.

The mass layoffs at Twitter have been marked by chaos and uncertainty for many employees.

Employees said entire teams were laid off and some reported being locked out of work emails before the layoffs were officially communicated. In one case, a laid-off employee was reported to have been kicked out of the company's systems while they were midway through a virtual meeting.
