Amazon's site appears to be down for some users.

The issue appears to be affecting both mobile and desktop versions of the site, as well as Amazon's app. According to Down Detector, outages are spiking on the East and West coasts of the US, as well as in Texas and the Midwest. As of 3:25 p.m. on Thursday, Down Detector showed over 77,000 reports of outages.

It's incredibly rare for Amazon's site to go offline, especially since the e-commerce giant powers much of the web's infrastructure through Amazon Web Services. Amazon's site being down equates to lost sales for the company — in 2018, for example, the site went down for about an hour during its Prime Day shopping event, likely losing the company millions in sales.
