Amazon will open a pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic at its downtown headquarters in Seattle on Sunday, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee announced Thursday.

The one-day clinic, which is being launched through a partnership between Amazon and Virginia Mason Medical Center, aims to administer 2,000 vaccines to members of the public who are eligible through the state's distribution plan.

Inslee said Monday that the state aims to reach 45,000 daily vaccinations. Washington state is currently in Phase 1B, which includes anyone 65 and older or anyone over 50 in a multigenerational household.

The pop-up vaccine site announcement comes just days after Amazon offered to help the Biden administration distribute vaccine doses. The company said it is willing to use all of its resources to get as many people vaccinated as possible, free of charge.

"We are prepared to leverage our operations, information technology, and communications capabilities and expertise to assist your administration's vaccination efforts," Amazon executive Dave Clark wrote in a letter expressing the company's intentions to assist in the vaccine rollout. "Our scale allows us to make a meaningful impact immediately in the fight against COVID-19, and we stand ready to assist you in this effort."

The clinic will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Amazon's headquarters at 2031 7th Avenue in Downtown Seattle.

Other big tech companies in Washington have also offered their locations as vaccination sites. Notably, Microsoft is using its mostly vacant campus in Redmond to perform mass vaccinations. The company will provide both space and support staff to help administer vaccines for Washington residents.
