Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York recently revealed her passion for "League of Legends," a popular computer game with millions of players worldwide. Ocasio-Cortez shared a picture of her "League of Legends" screen after she earned the rank of Silver IV.
"League of Legends," or "LoL" as it's commonly called, is a competitive strategy game that pits two teams against each other in a 5-on-5 arena. Fellow "LoL" players flocked to the congresswoman's Twitter account to congratulate her for earning the rank and celebrate her appreciation for gaming.
Many consider "League of Legends" to be difficult and time-consuming, but the game has spawned an international community with millions of fans and hundreds of dedicated professional players. At peak hours each day, about 8 million people are logged in and playing "League of Legends." Last month, publisher Riot Games announced seven new games and other "LoL"-related projects to celebrate the game's 10th anniversary.
Ocasio-Cortez's Silver IV rank makes her better than about 15% of "League of Legends" players in ranked matches. Players are given an initial rank based on their performance, ranging from Iron and Bronze to Diamond and Grandmaster. Ranking points are earned through wins and individual performance. Rep. Josh Harder of California is in the Platinum ranks of "League of Legends," placing him above about 80% of the player pool.
Earning Silver in "LoL has certainly earned Ocasio-Cortez some cool points among gamers, and it's not the first time she's shown her geeky side. Earlier this year she quoted a line from Alan Moore's "Watchmen" in a tweet, to the joy of comic-book fans.

Congress might work better if more battles were fought on summoner's rift instead of committee hearings https://t.co/VMd9VDCgQS
