Good morning! This is the tech news you need to know this Friday.

  1. An Uber safety report has revealed over 3,000 sexual assaults in US rides in 2018. The ride-hailing firm's long-awaited 84-page report disclosed data on sexual assault complaints, car crashes and murders.
  2. Google faces another major headache with a new filing claiming employees were fired for activism. A complaint has reportedly been filed with the US National Labor Relations Board, alleging that staff in Google's ad business were illegally fired.
  3. Huawei is suing the FCC, which is trying to block it from providing equipment to rural America. Huawei described the action as unlawful.
  4. A former Facebook moderator is suing the firm, claiming that reviewing horrific material left him with PTSD. According to court documents, the former moderator reviewed approximately 1000 pieces of content - known as "tickets" - per night.
  5. Former employees at luggage startup Away described a toxic environment, including online bullying via the work chat service Slack. The Verge reported employees working long hours and toxic behavior from company leaders.
  6. Elon Musk's lawyer asked the British cave explorer suing the Tesla CEO over 'pedo guy' tweet whether he would apologize to Musk. Vernon Unsworth said in 2018 Elon Musk pulled "a PR stunt" by showing up near the Thailand cave where a major rescue operation was underway.
  7. Airbnb has banned party houses, and says guests who violate house rules can be kicked off the platform. Starting in early 2020, Airbnb will ban unauthorized parties and introduce new guest rules to address growing trust and safety concerns.
  8. There's a battle brewing to recognise machine inventors for their AI-generated inventions. A group of lawyers are battling to have an AI called Dabus recognized for two inventions - a food container and a lamp - in patent filings.
  9. Apple's first completely wireless iPhone without a charging port may be less than 2 years away. Such a device could arrive in 2021, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is known for his prophetic Apple predictions.
  10. Ring's Ukraine office threw a party where white employees wore Native American headdresses and face paint. Employees threw a party with racially insensitive costumes, according to Vice News.
