  • The Vivo V30e is the latest mid-range smartphone from Vivo in India.
  • The device has been priced starting at ₹27,999 and is available in two variants.
  • Here’s my review of the Vivo V30e that will help you decide whether to buy the device or not.
Vivo recently launched its latest mid-range smartphone in the V series, dubbed the Vivo V30e. This comes soon after the company launched the Vivo V30 and the V30 Pro smartphones in India. The V30 series is the successor of the V29 series and comes with several updates.

The Vivo V30e is the most affordable option in the V30 series and has been placed below the V30 and V30 Pro smartphones. The device is aimed at youngsters, with its sleek design and camera-centric approach.

I have been using the Vivo V30e for a few days now, and here is my detailed review of the latest mid-range smartphone from the Chinese smartphone maker.

Vivo V30e price and availability

The Vivo V30e is priced at ₹27,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage variant and ₹29,999 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB internal storage variant.

It comes in Silk Blue and Velvet Red colour options and is available from Flipkart, Vivo online store and the company’s authorised retail stores across the country.

Design and display

The Vivo V30e comes with a revamped design, offering two options – a Velvet Red colour option that comes with a glass back and a Silk Blue colour option that offers a back panel with a plastic composite sheet. I tested the Velvet Red colour option.

The Vivo V30e comes with a dual-tone finish, with one portion offering a matte finish and one portion offering a glossy finish. It is a dark shade of red, which at some angles offers a brownish shade.

The glass back feels premium to hold and is a good option in this segment. The device does not attract any fingerprint smudges, making it possible to use it without a case. However, the device is a bit slippery, so I recommend using it with a case to ensure it does not slip out of your hand. The case provided by the company with the device does the job.

The V30e features a large circular camera module at the back that houses the dual camera setup. The camera module also includes the Aura Ring Light which is circular.

The Vivo V30e comes with curved edges that allow you to hold the phone easily. The device is sleek and weighs just 188 grams for the Velvet Red variant and 179 grams for the Silk Blue variant.

The Vivo V30e features a plastic frame with volume rockers and the power button placed on the right.

At the top, you get a microphone. At the bottom, you get the SIM tray, a microphone, a USB Type-C port, and the speaker grille.

Coming to the display, the smartphone features a 6.78-inch Full HD+ curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,300 nits peak brightness.

The display on the Vivo V30e is decent, offering good colour accuracy, high refresh rate and good brightness levels. You won’t face any issues, whether you are gaming or just browsing social media.

Software and performance

The Vivo V30e runs on Android 14 out of the box with the company’s Funtouch OS 14 on top. The device will get three years of Android updates and four years of security updates. The software support offered by the company is decent for this segment.

The V30e has its fair share of bloatware. This includes applications like Amazon, Snapchat, PhonePe, Facebook, LinkedIn and more. While these applications can be uninstalled, the V-Appstore, which is the company’s own app store also sends notifications for app recommendations.

In terms of performance, the Vivo V30e is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset coupled with 8GB LPDDR5X of RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage.

While the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset is not a very powerful one, it offers decent performance in this segment. The device can handle multitasking easily. I played Call of Duty: Mobile on the device and it was able to handle the game smoothly, without any stutters.

The smartphone is powered by a 5,500mAh battery with 44W fast charging support. The large battery ensures that you do not have to worry about running out of juice during the day. With regular usage, you can get up to two days of battery life out of the device.

Camera

The Vivo V30e comes with a dual camera setup at the back consisting of a 50MP primary camera with a Sony IMX882 sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture. The rear camera setup supports 4K video recording.

The primary camera offers decent images in daylight conditions, capturing good details with good colour reproduction and with minimal noise. It can focus on the subject quickly and capture images with good highlight retention.

The smartphone offers good portrait images, with decent edge detection and background effects.

While the Aura Light helps in capturing decent images even in low light conditions, the device sometimes takes a bit longer to capture the images.

The device is equipped with a 50MP selfie camera, which captures good selfies in daylight and low-light conditions. The front camera also supports 4K video recording, making it a good option for content creators.

Verdict

The Vivo V30e is a decent smartphone that comes with a slightly different design, decent hardware and a large battery. Its sleek design and vibrant display make it a good option in this segment.

At the same time, the sub-₹30,000 segment has become highly completive, with the launch of devices like the Poco F6 and the Realme GT 6T, which offer better performance when compared to Vivo V30e.
