Samsung is bringing its fans back in focus with the new Galaxy S20 FE. It's not always possible for phone companies to fulfill all their fans' wishes, but with the Galaxy S20 FE, Samsung has tried to do just this. Instead of looking elsewhere, the Korean smartphone maker turned to its fans to understand what they want.

This comes at a time when flagship phones are getting more expensive than ever. And the Galaxy S20 FE comes as a breath of fresh air while offering almost everything a flagship phone in 2020 should.

I've been using the Galaxy S20 FE for a few days now, and here are my first impressions.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE price and availability

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has been launched in India at a price of ₹49,999.

Unlike most phones in its segment, the Galaxy S20 FE comes with vibrant colour choices. You get to choose between five colours options - Cloud Lavender, Cloud Mint, Cloud Navy, Cloud White and Cloud Red.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE design – you don’t need glass for premium looks

Glass backs have become the norm when it comes to high-end smartphones. While glass backs certainly look premium, they’re often challenging to manage as the class can easily break if dropped.

With the Galaxy S20 FE, Samsung has opted for a plastic back design with a matte finish that makes you forget it is plastic. The matte finish also helps you avoid fingerprints and dust, which is an issue with glass backs.

Apart from this, Samsung has kept things minimalistic. The front of the phone houses the 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is bright and easily readable under direct sunlight, and it’s flat with very slim bezels.

Overall, the Galaxy S20 FE looks clean and minimalistic.

Filled to the brim with features

Despite its relatively affordable price tag, the Galaxy S20 FE doesn't compromise on features. It shares several hardware specifications with its high-end Galaxy S20 siblings – Exynos 990 chipset, fast memory and storage, 120Hz refresh rate, 4,500mAh battery, and fast charging.

There are a few differences in terms of the cameras – on the back, it comes with a triple camera setup with two 12MP cameras and an 8MP telephoto lens. The front has a 32MP selfie camera. Apart from this, Samsung has opted for an optical fingerprint sensor this time – it's faster than the ultrasonic one used in other Galaxy S20 smartphones but slightly less secure.

Essentially, Samsung has filled the Galaxy S20 FE to the brim with features without deflecting from the theme of its flagship Galaxy S brand. It's a great time to be a Samsung fan.
